It has been kind of a rough winter. I got out to the woods 2 weeks ago. I had to dig in to get the car off the road. I stayed the night and was on the ham radio all day Saturday. The noise floor is so low and the 20 meter antenna I have out there works very well. My plan is to add a couple of antennas this summer and take advantage of the location and the fact that I am free to have antennas as I want. I'll add a 40 meter and a 10 meter dipole.
I studied and took my ham radio extra license. That is my third and final license. I do want to be a volunteer examiner one day as I appreciate those that have done it for me. I have finally come up with a decent receive wire for use at the condo. It took a bunch of experimenting to come up with one I could leave up and still be in compliance with the HOA. This one is super stealthy. I will paint it when it warms up. I purchased two more hf radios and am on hf bands all the time. The new radios are an ICOM 718 and a Yaesu FT-710. I have both pictured. The ICOM is 22 year old tried and true technology and the Yaesu is in the top five in the world for receive selectivity. Both are pretty fun.
