I spent 3 days and 120 bucks at the state fair this year (I love the fair) I thought I would add a couple more pictures. I included the KFAN booth. I usually listen for a couple of hours every day.
I spent Saturday evening and Sunday at the shack. I bought a Benelli 12 gauge pump last week and I wanted to see what my shot pattern is with an improved cylinder choke and #3 shot. I shot at this target at aproximately 25 yards. I'll be using this gun for duck hunting this fall. I also shot at some clays..... stationary and in flight. The last picture is of a window I had to fix (mischievous locals). As the windows get broken out, I replace the panes with polycarbonate sheets.
Amy and I went to the Minnesota State Fair on Saturday. I will be going again this year. I love the fair. I just took a couple of pictures. This fair is the greatest....and if you haven't gone, you need to. It is the largest state fair in the country by daily attendance.
CJ came up to the shack for a weekend of fishing. The fishing is admittedly a little tough right now. We still caught a couple little guys and had a lot of fun. We scouted alot of places we will fish in the future. It rained quite a bit on Friday night so we were able to have a fire on Saturday. We spent most of our time on camp lake and the chain of lakes around Gull.
I spent most of this weekend clearing the land for a driveway and parking pad. I have a little bit of work left for next weekend. I have a local guy lined up to deliver 3 12 yard dump truck loads of class 5. It should be done this fall. The next picture is of my neighbor's shipping container that they are turning into a cabin. Ryan did a great job framing the windows and doors. The container looks great. The last picure is of their dog, Oreo. We spent an hour looking for Oreo in the woods on Saturday night at about 11:00 pm. It was super nerve racking having him lost for that long. Our friend Rusty brought his pitbull to help find Oreo. On his second trip away from us he found Oreo walking down the middle of a gravel road. We were all relived to have the event end so well.
Amy and I spent the day on the Cannon Valley Trail from Redwing. It is a super great trail and it was a beautiful day.
This was CJ's second day fishing with me. He stayed both Friday and Saturday night. He had a lot of places he wanted to try this weekend. He is good at using DNR reports and topo maps. We hit 3 connected lakes today. We went through two culverts and over one dam to access Hickory, Little Pine and Farm Island Lake. It was a bit choppy, but we had fun and still did ok.
My brother spent Friday and Saturday night at the shack with me. We spent all day fishing Saturday and Sunday. We caught a bunch of fish and had a good time. Saturday we hit round lake and Lake Placid. Lake Placid is a reservoir for the Crow Wing River. We fished below the hydro dam on the Crow Wing river as well.
